Meat:

  • ground beef (80/20 or 85/15) 1 lb
  • water or beef broth 1 cup
  • finely diced onion 1/2 cup
  • salt 1 tsp
  • black pepper 1/2 tsp
  • Hellmann's 1 tsp
  • yellow mustard 1 tsp
  • pickles
  • bun

  1. Put the ground beef in a skillet with the water or broth.

  2. Break the meat apart very finely with a potato masher or spoon while it cooks.

  3. Add onion, salt, pepper, and sugar.

  4. Simmer until the liquid is mostly gone and the meat is tender and crumbly

  5. Assemble sandwich: put generous layer of Hellmann's on the bottom bun, top with meat, pickes and more Hellmann's, if desired. Then add top bun.
