Richard Hellmann arrived in NYC in 1913, met Margaret, the daughter of two deli owners. Their love of food blossomed into Hellmann’s Delicatessen.

Margaret perfected the mayonnaise recipe which was sealed with the iconic blue-ribbon. This delicious condiment would become the top-selling mayo in the US. The secret? Carefully chosen ingredients and a delicious creamy texture.

1960s – 1970s

Hellmann’s spread its love worldwide, starting with Europe in the 1960s. By the 1970s, their creamy, delectable taste was delighting taste buds in Portugal, Spain, Brazil, Argentina, and Colombia.
