Cheddar bites in homemade breadcrumbs & Hellmann’s Tabasco Mayo (the perfect way to put your stale bread to work)
INGREDIENTS
- 1 350 gram cheddar cheese block
- 200 gram stale bread
- 2 eggs whisked
- 100 grams plain flour (or any flour in your store cupboard)
- 6 tablespoons Hellmann’s Tabasco mayo
- 500 ml vegetable oil for frying
METHOD
-
Heat up the oil in a deep pan over medium heat.
-
In three separate bowls, place the flour, the eggs and the breadcrumbs. In that order, dip your cheese into the flour, followed by the egg and finally the breadcrumbs, coating each cheddar cube generously.
-
In a deep heavy-based pan, heat the oil to 170C. Carefully lower your breaded cheese cubes in and fry for 3-5 minutes, until they are evenly golden all over. Using a slotted spoon, remove them from the oil and place onto the kitchen roll, to absorb any excess oil.
-
Serve with Hellmann’s tabasco mayonnaise.
