2020 all plastic recycled

• We’re excited to announce that by 2020, all of Hellmann’s Mayonnaise and Mayonnaise Dressing plastic jars and bottles sold in U.S. retail stores will be made from recycled plastic materials. This is the first step in our journey to make these packs fully recyclable and made from 100% recycled materials.

• The new recycled plastic packaging is made from 100% food-safe plastic material and has a slightly darker tint compared to the previous packaging.

• Unilever is committed to ensure that 100% of plastic packaging will be designed to be fully reusable, recyclable or compostable by 2025, and Hellmann’s efforts will help support that commitment.

Retailers are expected to have our squeeze 11.5-ounce and 20-ounce products with the new recycled plastic packaging on shelves by July. Hellmann’s plastic jars will transition to the new recycled plastic packaging by the end of the year.

All of Hellmann’s Mayonnaise and Mayonnaise Dressing plastic containers sold in U.S. retail stores will be made from recycled plastic materials. Hellmann’s Real Ketchup, Burger Sauce and Dipping Sauce products, which were released in March 2019, will not use the new packaging yet. We are actively exploring new opportunities to use recycled packaging for our other products.
